Can flax seed oil be used to cook something?

Like fried potatoes say?Can flax seed oil be used to cook something?
What do you mean by used?

My friend threw it in everything she ate.She put it on top of her oatmeal,potatoes,anything...Can flax seed oil be used to cook something?
I am a former chef and use it myself and as those who stated it is not heat stable they are right, it is more like sesame seed oil or the expensive truffle oil from France and Italy, you use it as a seasoning not a cooking agent, and I to use it in smoothies, salad dressings, in granola after it is cooked, so once you have cooked your potato's, drizzle some over them with your seasoning at the table.

Like Fish Oils it is good for you in may ways, but it is not heat press, like olive oil it is ';cold pressed'; so as not to damage it's nutritive values and benefits, so do not waste it in cooking, just add it like a seasoning.
I wouldn't. Flax seed oil is meant to be used ';raw';. The smoke point is probably really low so it couldn't fry effectively and you'd stink up your kitchen. You'd likely kill most the benefits of flax seed oil if you cooked it.

Note: if you're becoming health-conscious enough to start dabbling in flax seed oil, you probably want to stop frying your potatoes. Just saying...
The great benefits of flax seed as well as flax seed oil are diminished when heated. It kills the EFAs, which is the reason most people use these products. It's best used raw.
I wouldn't since frying with it will kill it's antioxidant benefits. I'd also be worried about it cating fire, since it has a low smoke point.
yes, you can use it. it's very healthy too.
if you wish... sure...
