  • What does pumpkin seed oil do?

I saw it in Vitaminne shop when I was picking up green tea extract, does anyone know what it does? What does pumpkin seed oil do?
While pumpkin seed oil is most commonly used to treat irritable bowel syndrome, small studies have shown that pumpkin seeds, which contain amino acids, steroidal compounds, and omega-3 and -6 fatty acids, may lower the risk of certain types of kidney stones and improve symptoms associated with enlarged prostates. Additionally, pumpkin seeds reportedly contain significant amounts of L-tryptophan, which fights depression in higher doses. While pumpkin seeds do not contain these levels, they may be taken as a preventative. Some studies have also found pumpkin seeds to prevent hardening of the arteries and regulate cholesterol levels.

Pumpkin seed oil, commonly prescribed in German folk medicine, remedies parasitic infestations such as tapeworms. The infected patient ingests roughly 10 ounces of ground pumkin seeds, milk, and honey. Castor oil is swallowed two hours later to eliminate the tapeworms.

Pumpkin seed oil serves as a salad dressing when combined with honey or olive oil. Using it as a cooking oil, however, destroys its essential fatty acids.

Can Sesame Seed Oil (carrier) be used for aromatherapy massage as well as cooking?

Is sesame seed carrier oil for aromatherapy use only and cannot be used for cooking? Or is it the other way around?

And I've read that Sesame seed and Hazelnut carrier oil (with drops of essential oil) are best for aromatherapy massage, well which do you think is BETTER?Can Sesame Seed Oil (carrier) be used for aromatherapy massage as well as cooking?
Sesame oil can be used for both, for cooking and as carrier oil.

Different cooking oils are processed to give them a longer shelf life but not sesame oil because of its content of antioxidant substances ( sesamol and sesamolinol formed from sesamolin ).

    ';It is also highly nutritious, rich in vitamins A, B and E as well as the minerals iron, calcium, magnesium, copper, silicic acid and phosphorus. It contains linoleic acid and alpha linoleic acid as well as lecithin, and this may go some way to explaining its benefit to the brain and nervous system. Like olive oil, sesame oil is considered good for lowering harmful cholesterol levels.';

    ';Sesame oil is immensely popular in India where its use in oil massage (abhyanga) is part of everyday life and an important aspect of Ayurveda. It is the favorite oil for massage as its chemical structure gives it a unique ability to penetrate the skin easily, nourishing and detoxifying even the deepest tissue layers. In fact it is said to benefit all the seven tissues (Dhatus). It is the best oil for balancing Vata but can also be used sparingly for Pitta and Kapha.';

But sesame oil may overpower a blend if not diluted with another carrier oil.

  • What can I put flax seed oil in?

If I wanted to get kids to eat it what should I put it in?What can I put flax seed oil in?
I put a teaspoon of it in my orange juice. What can I put flax seed oil in?
Kind of hard to place flax seed oil in some foods. I applied it to some orange juice (1 tbs in a cup of OJ) and tried it out. It turned out ok, you could tell a difference in the taste of the OJ, but nothing disgusting. Note that it is similar to olive oil in texture. It will not mix with most liquids, making it hard to hide.

As someone else said, salad dressing is always nice. Next time I use it, I'm definitely going to place it in some salad dressing.

I recommend buying GROUNDED flax seeds (more nutrients when grounded). These are probably more kid friendly (no taste).

Place it in oatmeal or cereal.
Anything and everything. You can mix it in soups, drizzle in salad dressing, fry with it, put a teaspoon in any hot dish, stir fry with it.. basically anything you would use normal olive or vegetable oil with, just add a bit of flax seed oil.
I put flaxseed oil in my smoothies, and really can't even tell it's in there. You can use it in salad dressings and as a butter substitute for toast. It's not really good for cooking, it breaks down and starts to smoke when it gets above 200 degrees or so.
I was instructed by a doctor not to cook flaxseed oil in any food because the heat destroys the part that's good for you. You can however put ground flax seeds into your food, according to him.
    On salads(in a dressing)

In smoothies is a hit at my house.

Nothing that heats it up. NO frying with it, heat destroys it's nutritional value.
Make salad dressing. The important thing about flax seed oil is to keep it raw so the healthy qualities remain intact.
in their cereal. a teaspoon of flax oil in a bowl of milk or soymilk is barely detectable
Put it on pasta after it's been cooked.

Can you detox/cleanse with black seed oil?

I purchased a small bottle of black seed oil and was told if I drink the whole thing on an empty stomach it would detox my system. Is this true? Or do I have to take a small amount daily over a period of time to detox?

The writing on the box is in Arabic and I can't read it. Thanks. Can you detox/cleanse with black seed oil?
you bought something without researching it first? aside from not being to terribly bright, what did you hope to gain? The body detoxifies and cleanses itself on a daily basis as long as you drink enough water and eat appropriately. Even when you don't the body works hard to remove the toxins from your system. You don't need, and in fact should not try, to stimulate or boost this mechanism.

The black seed oil you have is useless, you don't know what is in it, and it could add greater toxicity to your body. Suggest you learn your lesson and throw it away. Can you detox/cleanse with black seed oil?

Is it true that cooking with rape seed oil is as good or better than olive oil?

No. Rape seed oil, commercially called canola oil, is not better for you to consume, but it does return a higher rate of profit for oil manufacturers. Is it true that cooking with rape seed oil is as good or better than olive oil?
Well, healthwise it's comparable, and it has a higher smoke point than olive oil, so it's usable in more situations.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil has a taste characteristic appropriate to certain dishes. Unfortunately it has a low smoke point (the point at which it begins to smoke, and then burn). If you don't need the specific olive oil flavor, then alternative oils would fit the bill.Is it true that cooking with rape seed oil is as good or better than olive oil?
For cooking use an oil high in mono-unsaturated fats as the polyunsaturates fats may break down to form trans fats. I have a bottle of olive oil in front of me and it is 73% mono and only 8.2% poly check on rapeseed oil as I think that is high in mono-unsaturates.
Chrissakes, the whole of Mediterranean countries for centuries have used olive oil profusely for cooking and medicinal use and have produced some of the best cuisine in the world, and you are screwing around with ';rape seed'; oil? This dink who says ';rape seed'; tastes better doesn't know diddly squat about olive oil. There are various grades of olive oil. Do a little research and you will find that olive oil is not only the healthiest oil you can use but the most versatile. . . millions of Spanish, Italians, Greeks, Israelis, French, Sicilian, Arabs, etc.,can be wrong. Don't listen to these stupid veggie cows, they will drive you nuts.
You really need to fix your question before somebody turns you in. I'm sure that you mean ';Grapeseed'; oil, not ';Rape';. I have always prefered olive oil and I will recommend it to you too.
Eww, rape doesn't sound very good for you, but I like olive oil for all types of cooking.
    Yes it's true.

For stir frying or frying meat and fish I always use rape seed rather than Olive oil which burns at that high a temperature. I also cook 4 days a week for my boss and he has grape seed (not the same thing as rapeseed) or ground nut oil for cooking and Olive oil or Virgin Olive oil for dressings and salads. To him it's a sin to waste Olive Oil on cooking but I don't use it at home for cooking or dressings as I don't like the taste! Nutritionally they are all pretty much the same! So it's really down to taste.
It is for me as I find olive oil too strong a taste
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rapeseed_oi鈥?/a>

Natural rapeseed oil contains erucic acid, which is mildly toxic to humans in large doses but is used as a food additive in smaller doses. Canola, originally a syncopated form of the abbreviation ';Can.O., L-A.'; (Canadian Oilseed, Low-Acid) that was used by the Manitoba government to label the seed during its experimental stages, is now a tradename for low erucic acid rapeseed that is sometimes mis-applied to other varieties.

Canola oil (or rapeseed oil) contains both omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids in a ratio of 2:1 and is only second to flax oil in omega-3 fatty acid. It is one of the most heart-healthy oils and has been reported to reduce cholesterol levels, lower serum tryglyceride levels, and keep platelets from sticking together. Some UK farmers (such as Farrington Oils[1]) have started to produce cold-pressed rapeseed oil as a versatile cooking oil and dressing, similar in use to olive oil.
yes it is, rapeseed is a much more natural than olive oil. i use ie all the time and it also has a much nicer flavour.

Would you recommend diluting lavender oil with grape-seed oil?

This is for my face, for acne.

I don't want to buy jojoba, witch hazel, or something like that; it is pretty expensive. 10 for just a little bit.

Would diluting the lavender oil with pure grape-seed oil work?

How would you recommend using the lavender/grape-seed oil mix?

Also, I read somewhere that lavender can help with pain and sleep, how would I use it for pain and sleep?

Thank you :DWould you recommend diluting lavender oil with grape-seed oil?
    Sure it should be ok.

Jojoba is also good and should not be expensive, but if you have grapeseed, that is very good for the skin too.

Either mix one or two drops of the pure essential lavender oil in your palm with a good amount of the grapeseed, like 1/3 teaspoon. mix it up, rub it in your cleaned skin. or, take a bottle and fill it about 10%-20% lavender oil to 80-90% grapeseed, shake it up often.

For pain rub your lavender/grapeseed mix on sore muscles.

    Inhale for emotional pain

Put a few drops of lavender on a tissue and put it in bed with you.

Or, put 10-20 drops of lavender in a spray bottle with water, shake, and make a nice sheet and bed spray

You can also try one drop of lavender or less applied directly to a stubborn pimple. Keep away from eyes. If your skin itches or gets red, use only the diulted oil instead.

What can i substitute for flax seed oil?

In a brown crispy rice recipe (its like a health bar) i need flax seed oil but i cant find it. can i used grape seed oil or sunflower oil?

thanks :)What can i substitute for flax seed oil?
You can use other oils but they make it taste different. Plus it won't have the actual health benefits of why it was created in the first place. The next best thing taste wise should be peanut oil. But the next best thing health wise will be virgin olive oil. Flax seed oil is basically oil from nuts and seeds. That is why peanut oil should be a better substitute taste wise. What can i substitute for flax seed oil?
    Yes any oil

Its an over all a good %26amp; natural medication for all gastro intestinal problems. Is Flax seed oil helpful in reducing high blood pressure?
    What It Is Used For

Flaxseed is most commonly used as a laxative.

Flaxseed is also used for hot flashes and breast pain.

Flaxseed oil is used for different conditions than flaxseed, including arthritis.

Both flaxseed and flaxseed oil have been used for high cholesterol levels and in an effort to prevent cancer.

Can't find anything about it helping reduce High Blood Pressure. Is Flax seed oil helpful in reducing high blood pressure?
Yes flax seed can help reduce blood pressure. Flax seed oil is enriched with the heart healthy benefits of Omega 3, an unsaturated type of fat. The regular intake of flax seed oil or milled flax seed conveys HDL (good cholesterol) into the bloodstream which operates to clear LDL (bad cholesterol) formation with the arteries.

What is the best way to take flax seed oil?

14 caps is is equivalent to a tablespoon of the oil. You should have one tablespoon per 100 pounds of body weight. Consider that.

I prefer the simple ';large glug'; method (I tip the bottle back, and take a large glug - I'm the only one using the bottle, and after much practice, have a good idea of about how much a tablespoon is....and its not an exact science, if you are a little off, no big deal)

You can use it in salad dressings, on oatmeal (instead of butter) or any way you can think of to use it on food, as long as you don't cook with it....

Good LuckWhat is the best way to take flax seed oil?
That stuff is soooo nasty! I recommend using the capsule form and adding ground flax to everything you eat. I use it in food alot and you don't even taste it.What is the best way to take flax seed oil?
Capsules are more convenient, but the oil is cheaper. It's probably best of all to eat ground flax seed - it's yummy in a smoothy with soy milk and frozen berries.
    try it with ur salad

Is it true that coconut oil, snake oil, and black seed oil are naturla cures?

If so what do they do for you? If not what natural ';cures'; do you know of. Also what natural food or oil strengths the immune system? Is it true that coconut oil, snake oil, and black seed oil are naturla cures?
Coconut oil is high in emollients, Snake oil is to kill poisons as a counter acting agent, black oil is rich in vitamins and high energy (most common wild bird seed bought).

I'm not aware of any oils that strengthen the immune system, but the herb Echineacea is widely known for that ability. However, it should only be used if the need calls for it and in moderation. Echineacea should only be used 6 weeks at a time and then give it a rest for at least one week before starting back.

There are better herbs that can be drank as a tea that heal anemia and strengthen the immune system. You can ask this question on the contact page at www.dandesoap.com

Also, the book I own offers a recipe for a tea used for strengthen the immune system, anemia and other ailments. Please view the resource below. I found it on Amazon.comIs it true that coconut oil, snake oil, and black seed oil are naturla cures?
black seed oil is known as a natural cure for health problems but not specific to any one thing

I think you are referring to black mustard seed-not the one for birds Thay are difficult to chew (like sand)and not that tasty by themselves but adding them to bread cookies cereal etc is better for taste.Toasting them slightly first is also good for taste.
Snake Oil ? :o) That is just a mythical thingy a term used for quacks who sell oils which can cure anything under the sun. Black seed Oil has Awesome Therapeutic and Curative powers, black seed in itself cures and makes your body immune take about 5 Black seed and just chew on them you will know for yourself what good it is doing for you, does not needs any recommendations its really Awesome. Coconut oil is good for cooking and your hair and skin you can look at all the Bengali's hair to know how good coconut is for your hair and skin.

Is it bad to take fish oil pills and flax seed oil pills at the same time?

Both of the oil supplements are extremely rich in omega 3 fatty acids and almost serve the same purpose. So you should basically choose only one of them, as both of them will serve the same purpose and provide the body with same nutritional elements. If you take the two of them together, your body will get too much omega 3 fatty acids. Apart from that, it will cause no harm.Is it bad to take fish oil pills and flax seed oil pills at the same time?
well taking both of then can cause some pretty severe intestinal issues, like gas and bloat. Other than that it isn't bad, but its sort of over kill.

Is it safe to take flax seed oil capsules or spoon full of flax seed oil during pregnancy?

Hi there - flax, like soy, contains phytoestrogens - compounds which mimic the estrogen our bodies naturally produce. I'm pasting some info below I found on the website www.flaxheath.com:

Should I Eat Flax During Pregnancy?

Flax seed is a phytoestrogen, which is a plant estrogen.

Pregnant mothers and their children are especially sensitive to hormones. Human studies have not been done on the effect of flax and pregnancy, however animal studies have been completed. High estrogen levels are needed by the mother to prepare the uterus for the growing fetus, on the other hand, too much estrogen given to pregnant animals can reduce litter size and the birth weight of the offspring. Therefore, until human studies have been completed, I would advise to refrain from eating flax when pregnant.

Congratulations on your pregnancy! Is it safe to take flax seed oil capsules or spoon full of flax seed oil during pregnancy?
Flax seed has been eaten for thousands of years by men, women and children. It's been used in breads, cereals (ie morning porridge). I see no problem whatsoever with eating either the seed or the oil as long as you're not drinking the oil by the cup or glass. ANY fat or oil is going to affect your hormonal balance. Hormones are stored in fat cells. Flax seed is a very high source of Vit E and essential fatty acids. It also has a strong anti-inflammatory and loosening effect, as does evening primrose oil, which was prescibed for me by the handful by my midwife when I was pregnant. I will do more research (as should you) about flax and get back to you as soon as I can.

I will also say this to you: If you are TRULY worried about your health and that of your unborn child, GET A MIDWIFE and stay as far away from doctors and hospitals, especially if this is your first child as you possibly can. Read Silent Knife if you have any questions about why. I would also be as sceptical as hell of any Ob/Gyn that told me I needed to be induced. It often doesn't work if your cervix isn't ripe, and it hurts like hell. It is also one of the most overused medical procedures. You'll go when you're ready. I have really found that some (many) (MOST?) OB's trade on first time mom's not educating themselves, not being able to really advocate well for themselves, and women in general not functioning well as their own support and advocates when they're pregnant. From this comes needless interventions and birth structured the way doctors need it to be, not moms and babies. The strongest, most powerful, most effective thing you can do is to READ YOUR *** OFF, and to find out what your OB's section rate is. If it's above 20%, find someone else to help you and run like hell to your nearest birth center, if you can.Is it safe to take flax seed oil capsules or spoon full of flax seed oil during pregnancy?
It should be safe, since there is no warning on it against taking it during pregnancy.... but a doctor that knows about supplements would be the best one to ask just to be on the safe side.

Personally, I doubt it would do any harm
I've heard that its actually not that safe to take flax seed anytime during pregnancy

    read some of these:

Are canola oil and flax seed oil the same thing?

If this is true, why do we pay so much for flax seed oil supplements? Wouldn't foods fried in Cannola oil be just as good for you?Are canola oil and flax seed oil the same thing?
Canola oil is made from rapeseed. It's highly processed, and it's a product from Canada, hence named ';canola.'; It is high in omega 3 and omega 6. Canola oil was the result of research to find another use for rapeseed other than for cattle feed. It's nutritional content and relatively cheap price made it a natural for the marketplace. Canola oil is not as rich in omega 3 as Flaxseed oil.

Almost all vegetable oils that you can buy in the supermarket are deodorized and bleached, as well as being highly processed. This is done to extend the shelf life (prevent rancidity) and to be conducive to foods using oils to have a consistent taste. Most vegetable oils on the market are blends of various types of oil, such as soybean, palm and even cotton seed with safflower and/or sunflower.

You can buy cold pressed oils in natural food stores. Most have a nutty flavor, such as sunflower oil, and peanut oil. Safflower oil tends to have a buttery/nutty flavor. There are also all sorts of other oils as well. Cold processed rapeseed oil is not available.

Flax seed oil is considered more of a nutritional supplement rather than a cooking oil, because of it's high omega three content. Some people also like that it tends to help keep your peristolic system working. It's expensive to press, and it goes rancid quickly. Some people like to add flax seeds to their dishes for both the omega 3 and the colon cleansing effect. Flax is also the plant that is used to make linen. Flax oil has long been up there with castor oil as a hold your nose when you were a kid in the 1900's. It's been around for a long time.

It's accepted that omega 3 is a really good thing to put into your body, however, omega 3 that comes from fish is generally thought to accomplish the best benefits for a person. Fish oil is more easily absorbed than plant based omega 3.

Frying foods in canola oil likely isn't going to transfer the benefits. Some say that the high temperatures destroy the omega 3's. However, that said, you could benefit from a salad dressing made with Canola oil I suppose.

I hope that answers your question. Are canola oil and flax seed oil the same thing?
no, they're not the same thing

Canola is a made-up word, from the words ';Canada'; and ';oil';. It's a genetically engineered plant developed in Canada from the Rapeseed Plant, which is part of the mustard family of plants. Rapeseed oil is poisonous to living things, it's an industrial lubricant, not a food.

Flax seed oil is from the flax plant. It's packed with phytochemicals and advocated for it's cancer-prevention benefits.
Canola oil is actually a vegetable oil, which provides you primarily with monounsaturated fats. Flax seed oil provides you with omega-3's, which is a type of polyunsaturated fat. Omega-3 fatty-acids are essential, meaning that you must obtain them from food since your body does not provide you with them. Seeing that we cannot supply ourself with these fatty-acids, this is why they are more expensive....and much better for you as well.
NO! Canola oil is made with heat. it is a form of trans fat! Flax seed oil is cold pressed. The are NOT the same thing.

  • How do I chose a good flax seed supplement or oil?

With so many brands out there, how do I pick a good, high quality flax seed supplement or oil?How do I chose a good flax seed supplement or oil?
Bluebonnet's Certified Organic Flax Seed Oil 1000 mg. Softgels are prepared from certified organically grown flax seed. The oil is naturally squeezed from the flax seed by a process known as cold pressing. How do I chose a good flax seed supplement or oil?
    Hi Herro,

The first quality indicator is if the oil is ';Cold Pressed';. You should also know that Flax Seed oil is rich in Omega 3 and some 6; however, if you need Omega 9 as well, you should go to a fish oil.

Check out a book called ';A Prescription for Nutritional Healing';; it is a go-to book for supplements and herbs.

I wish I could give you a list of brands, etc., but it would be too long to list here. Instead, besides the book, I would recommend that you begin looking at supplements available from www.gardenoflifeusa.com.

They make premium stuff in all areas. I take the green food myself and an old friend of mine took the green food as well as other antioxidants and she has successfully survived an aggressive stage 4 breast cancer (with surgery, chemo and radiation; however, she is the only one in her treatment group still alive and / or in good health.

    Hope that helps
I can personally recommend ';granoVita'; an organic Flax oil. A number of members of my family have benefited from using this brand ( I have no connection with granoVita).

I am not sure in which country you are located, but it is available here in the UK. You can find out more on their website.

How do I chose a good flax seed supplement or oil?

Look for cold pressed with a high lignan count. Barleans is hands down the most trusted brand. This is a link for the oil itself

Any stir-fry with tofu is good or better if you use extra virgin olive oil. This is healthier in the longer run than any other oils.

Bottle says it's THC-Free but it still contains ';Virgin hemp seed oil';.Can you fail a drug test if you use a product that contains hemp seed oil?
The drugs test might also test for metabolites in which case there might be a small chance you would test dirty. If you are in the Air Force and don't want to take any chances explaining for something where you were not guilty but would be presumed so, then use a different type oil and save the hemp seed oil for some time after your enlistment is up.

I know some allergy medicines and poppy seeds can skew the results for drug tests and I'm sure that there might be similar problems with hemp products. Scroll down on this web page to read what it has to say about ingesting hemp products.

http://www.deltabravo.net/custody/drugte鈥?/a>Can you fail a drug test if you use a product that contains hemp seed oil?
No, because the drug test only tests for THC in your system. THC is not produced until the plant is grown so therefore you will not fail unless you intake the actual THC
    My people,

    isn't this medicine after death?

Or new scientific discovery after the death of the intended receipient??

    People are funny.

So this fellow just wants to use us to confirm his worst fears, not so?

    Ok.. lets help him out.

YES!!! Infact the drug test will say u also have STD. is that ok?

next time just steer 100miles off any substance (b4 or after the drug test bcos companies now sparodically send employees for drug tests while on the job) that will land u in trouble. u hear?

u dont want to b puttin out fires, right?

wait till u are out of ajob and the bills come
no you cannot, but it sounds to me like you smoked weed and need an excuse too.
As someone who worked as a UA inspector, NO you cannot because they are looking for THC. You should be fine but bring the bottle with you and ask anyway. And I don't think you are looking for an excuse.
    maybe

most of the THC is in the buds, probably only small amounts in the seeds

    like opium in poppy seeds
Should be fine if it's THC free, cuz that's what they look for in a drug test.
Well then if you fail you should give them a reason why they would detect THC and take along the product with you as proof.
Something tells me that you're just looking for an excuse.....
drug tests measure the THC in your system so you are all good
I really don't know. I don't think about that stuff because I don't even go near drugs!!!!!

For most people, 3,000 mg of oil at one sitting will cause them indigestion. However, it won't harm you if you want to try it. Flax oil doesn't give immediate results that can be measured on a daily basis, and there is no logical reason to spread them out through the day.

Is it good to use grape seed oil or Vaseline as a lube? I heard Ky jell has spermicide in it.

I looked into safe lubricant while ttc cuz I was taking Clomid and it made me super dry. I found that ';pre-seed'; is safe. I have used it and it works. It can get pricey if you have to use it all the time, so I only use it when we are ttc. Is it good to use grape seed oil or Vaseline as a lube? I heard Ky jell has spermicide in it.
Using Vaseline as a vaginal lubricant can cause a terrible infection. Vaseline is petroluem jelly and it does not break down and rinse out like lubricants manufactured for the vagina. If a lubricant has spermicide in it, it will say so on the container, but the only lubricant that I know of that is specifically made to be sperm-friendly is Pre-Seed.Is it good to use grape seed oil or Vaseline as a lube? I have read so many good things about Pre-Seed. It is expensive though. I did just learn from my OB that washing down there w/ soap makes you dry...and to just use warm water. Sounds weird, but all my research backed it up. My boyfriend and I have just started ttc, and I have dryness issues too. I think we might try the Pre-Seed.

Why do a couple of skin care companies use pomegranate seed oil as anti aging element in products?

How does pomegranate seed oil help boost the look and feel of your skin? Should I purchase these products containing the oil?Why do a couple of skin care companies use pomegranate seed oil as anti aging element in products?
Pomegranate Seed Oil is a blend of natural, cold-pressed seed oil. Pomegranate juice has antioxidant properties this the reason some use this ingredient for the antioxidants but on the other hand they have found that the fruit could have important implications for breast cancer treatment and estrogen replacement therapy. So i would stay away from it. I use botanically based products but the company where i buy them from do not include this as an ingredient on their anti aging line they are so careful selecting which would work better and the reason is their vast research experience. until they do not find the perfect ingrdient they do not sell the product. By the way they do not include mineral oil or animal products ... using poducts formulatted with mineral oil, animal prooducts or fragrances which all these ingredients are very harmfull for our skin.. Mineral oil is the 2nd worse thing we could do to our skins health for it is like rubbing car oil on our skin and exposing ourselfes to the sun, animal products come from dead animals and these come from rendering plants these plants pick all dead animal and dead animal parts (from meat houses, etc.) and they put it in a huge pot, squash everything and boils it, what ever comes to the top is the oil other companies use to elaborate thier products, gross I know...the lipstick... ewww... As i said before i use botanically based skin care line called Arbonne (their anti aging line NutriMinC RE9) way much better because they get absorbed and the nutrients inside the products is what helps our skin look and feel healthy...they are not sold in stores, i buy them online at: http://arbonnepuertorico.myarbonne.com ... under shop online and you could even ask for a sample , anyway it is a great way to buy becasue they have this money back guarantee if for some reason there is something you do not like from the products you get your money back guarantee (within 45 days from purchase) so you have nothing to loose, only avoid those lines to get deeper;~) Maybe too much info but i understand you will use it wisely.... Remember always read the ingredients and learn about them...

What is flax seed oil 1000. what are the side affects & is it all natural?

my family member bought a jar, but her doctor recommended for her not to take them, due to her normal medication %26amp; the side affects. Just wondering If I should take this vitamin. What is flax seed oil 1000. what are the side affects %26amp; is it all natural?
If you are talking about just plain flax seed oil, it's an all natural oil that comes from the flax seed and has no negative interactions with medication. It is one of the most beneficial supplements that you can take. What is flax seed oil 1000. what are the side affects %26amp; is it all natural?
It helps with the digestion system and the skin. It is all natural but can react to some medications. If you are normally healthy with no alleriges you shouldn't have a problem. If you have any question or concerns about taking it then talk with your doctor as you should for any self medications.
I have never heard of flax seed oil ';side effects';, but I suppose if you're taking certain medications it's possible that there could be a reaction. (for example, my Grandma takes medication that require her to avoid broccoli and other cruciferous vegetables.) Flax seed oil is extremely healthy and virtually side-effect free. In fact, you may be cheating your health if you DONT take them! Unless you're regularly consuming fatty fish (which I don't reccomend due to the high mercury levels these days) or you're taking fish oil, you're probably not getting enough essential fatty acids, such as Omega 3. Flax seed oil is a great way to get your essential fatty acids. Some of the benefits of Flax seed oil (essential fatty acids):

    *increased joint mobility

    *increased brain function

    *better skin

    *enhanced fat loss

    *improved general health

So, unless you're taking the same medication as your family member, I'd definately recommend taking them! If not flax oil, consider a good fish oil. (But limit your intake of fish flesh as it contains mercury- some varieties contain more than others so be sure to check- the oil does not contain mercury.) Are Fish Oil, Flax Seed, and Evening Primrose good vitamins to add to a Vegetarian Diet?

I am so excited that I decided to turn Veggie. I love it! But, I was wondering about adding some vitamins in my diet. Anyone know if I should add the above vitamins into my diet, and of course with a multi-vitamin?

Thanks for your input. Are Fish Oil, Flax Seed, and Evening Primrose good vitamins to add to a Vegetarian Diet?
Fish oil = fish. Fish = animal. Eating animal = not vegetarian.

The others are good. Just beware of certain ingredients (note: there are many animal ingredients that most people aren't aware of, and are commonly in certain foods, supplements, etc...)... the main one being gelatin, which is commonly used to make pill capsules. However, some don't contain gelatin, and for some things, such as flax, you can get versions without capsules at all (ie: actual ground flax seed).

EDIT to the person below: Yes, and the difference between vegetarian and vegan is that vegetarians don't eat animals, and vegans don't eat animals or animal products (dairy, eggs, honey, etc...). Fish are animals, not animal products. If your diet requires the killing of animals (as fish oil does), then you're not a vegetarian.

Vegetarian = doesn't eat meat, but does eat dairy, eggs, etc.

Vegan = doesn't eat anything from an animal

EDIT AGAIN: Medea, with all due respect, you're very misinformed about vegetarianism. First of all, the OP didn't say she was choosing to be vegetarian for health. And even if that's the case... if you eat anything requiring the killing of an animal (which fish oil DOES - it's taken from the tissue of dead fish). This is where vegetarians and vegans differ... vegetarians will eat animal products that don't require the killing of the animal (milk, egg, etc...), but vegans won't eat any animal product whatsoever. The difference is NOT that vegetarians eat some meat but not all meat, or will eat some meat products. If someone eats meat (or fish oil, gelatin, etc...), then that's their choice... but by definition they cease to be true vegetarians.

Likewise, those fish need to be harvested/caught and killed in order to extract the fish oil. Therefore, fish oil is NOT vegetarian, as it requires the harvesting/catching/killing than vegetarianism is against. Are Fish Oil, Flax Seed, and Evening Primrose good vitamins to add to a Vegetarian Diet?
fish oil comes from fish, which are animals, and are not vegetarian.

the other ones are probably good to add. i am not sure what they do, but it can't hurt.
Wow, there is a difference between Vegan (who won't have meat substance whatsoever) and Vegetarian; I think some people forget about.

Fish oil is very good for your eyesight. My ex husband had to take it for his retinitis pigmentosa. Gelatin is very important for hair and nails and although these things are from animals, it certainly will not affect you being a vegetarian or your healthy lifestyle choices.

***Apparently, I have offended the user above me. I am so sorry.

It is true that fish oil is very good for your eye sight. It is also true the gelatin is very good for you, which is why you can find gelatin in some hair products.

Choosing a vegetarian diet for your health does not mean that you think that killing an animal for food is wrong especially when that food happens to be the main food staple for a lot of different people around the world.

Being a vegetarian just means that you don't eat meat and you might have political views against cruelty to animals or you might just decide to make healthy choices.

Maybe, I should have put it this way instead. If you are choosing a lifestyle which does not prohibit the harvesting or catching and eating of any fish, please supplement your diet with fish oil. It is good for you.
I've heard that all of those are amazing for skin...=0)
Flax seed and evening primrose, yes. Borage is another source that resembles evening primrose (gamma linolenic acid).

Fish oil is not vegetarian, so unless you are vegetarian for purely health reasons, that would be a no.

Is it true that Black Seed Oil reduces blood glucose ? can you share your experiences, Thank you in advance?

What other diseases will it help.Is it true that Black Seed Oil reduces blood glucose ? can you share your experiences, Thank you in advance?
Various animals have been studied in relation to diabetes/high blood sugar. All showed a significant decrease in glucose levels after 48 hours of supplementation with black seed oil. Blood glucose levels continued to fall for up to a few weeks, when a levelling occurred and a therapeutic balance was maintained. The prominent physician and herbalist Muhammed Salim Khan has confirmed the benefits with human subjects. The best results with diabetes will be obtained by combining black seed oil with dietary adjustment, involving a low carbohydrate diet that includes raw fats and proteinIs it true that Black Seed Oil reduces blood glucose ? can you share your experiences, Thank you in advance?
Recently scientists around the world have confirmed the anti-bacterial and anti-mycotic effects of black seed oil. Health practitioners in various countries around the world are using the oil against inflamation of all sorts as well as fungi infections. Even a remarkable reduction of blood sugar levels has been found by scientists. Black Seed extracts have been found help tostimulate bone marrow and immune cells, so writes the scientists of the Cancer Immuno-Biology Laboratory and adding that it raises the interferon production, protects normal cells against cell destroying effects of viruses, destroys tumour cells and raises the number of anti-bodies producing B cells.

All these functions make the Black Seed oil the ideal candidate for the prevention and treatment of cancer. Scientists are now busy finding the effects of the Black Seed oil in regard to various other human health conditions. Dr.Med.Peter Schleicher, an immunologist, in Munich who in 1986 happened to be nominated the youngest member of the World Academy of Scientists, examined black seed oil in his institute to find new therapies for chronic illness and its effect.

His findings are identical to those in previous studies by earlier researchers. Schleicher says, by using Black Seed oil, valuable unsaturated fatty acids, for example Linoleic and Gammalinolen acids, get into the organism. By that it is possible to reach a synthesis of important immune regulating substances derived from Prostaglandin E1. Linoleic acid stabilizes the cell membranes and Prostaglandin has the effect of inhibiting inflamation. By that the immune reactions are stopped which cause the illnesses and which otherwise could be the start of many many chronic illnesses like acne and hayfever right up to cancer. In addition, the excessive T-cell function of the person suffering from allergies are stabilized through the substance in black seed oil and the abnormally rising immune reactions through supressed anti-bodies. The excessive immune system is normalized and the large cell degranulation decreased.

Studies also testify that an immune system which has gone wrong can again be regulated by the strong effect of the oil. Schleicher, meanwhile, has tested the effect of the oil on 600 patients. As a result he confirms the cure for allergies at about 70% of the patients. Amongst them are allergies against pollen and dust, acne and neuro-dermatological illnesses, asthma patients, etc.. who generally have a weak resistence and are prone to suffer from infections. For that reason Dr.Schleicher in Munich is going to include the oil with his preventative treatment against colds and influenza.

Can flax seed oil give you a stomach ache?

I used to take some every day, eat breakfast, and then get sick to my stomach. Well, I forgot my vitamins for a couple months and started taking them again, and the stomach aches are back. Could it be the flax seed oil? I'm also taking a One A Day Women's vitamin, but I've had them before with no problems. Can flax seed oil give you a stomach ache?
yes, i bet it is the flax seed. i would start using flax seed in food, just sprinkle some on. much easier on your stomach....be sure to get the flax seed that doesn't have the shell on it. **** luck. Can flax seed oil give you a stomach ache?
THE BEST EVER I started taking Essential Fatty Acids sometime ago, within one month I felt it's wonderful effects to my entire body and system. It was one of the best things I have done to date, not only for my Endo, but for my depression, (which virtually eliminated it completely)and my mood swings. It helped my skin considerably, and I noticed positive changes to my hair. My abdominal cramping, general pain, it even had the effects of regulating and lightening my menstrual periods. It helped my body aches and stiffness, stomach ailments, I can't say enough about all the positive effects taking this supplement did for me. We must really be lacking it in our diets from processing and preserving our foods. I recommend it strongly~
nope.... flax seed aides digestion and is good for the heart

i have been taking everyday for over a year

maybe its the vitamins.... one a day is not as good as the optimum nutrition

How can a 1000mg capsule of flax seed oil be 13x different than 1 TBS of theoil? Isn't 1 TBS oil = to 1000mg?

One tablespoon of oil (if you look at the itty bitty print on the side of the bottle) is 7,000 (or close to) mg of an omega three fatty acid called Alpha Linoleic Acid (ALA) 鈥?and one 1000mg capsule is approximately 500mgs of capsule and about 500mg of ALA 鈥?so you need 13-14 to get the same amount of ALA that you would in a tablespoon of oil.

As far as I'm concerned, that many capsules are bound to make a person sick.....

Take a tablespoon of the oil - eat a small piece of bread, or a cracker afterwards to get it off your tongue - it doesnt have much of a flavor, its the greasy feeling on your tongue thats the worst....

Flax seed oil is healthy for you, but it can cause you to have lose or runny bowels. I would recommend that you add a fiber capsule to your flax seed.

Blackcurrant seed oil is derived from the seeds of Ribes nigrum (blackcurrant, or European currant). It contains an unusually high amount of omega-6 (15-20 percent) as well as a high amount of omega-3 fatty acids (12-14 percent). It also contains linoleic acid as well as 2-4 percent stearidonic acid. There are some indications that black currant seed oil is anti-inflammatory and cardioprotective.[1] In European folk medicine, black currant once had a considerable reputation for controlling diarrhea, promoting urine output (as a diuretic) and reducing arthritic and rheumatic pains.[2] It is primarily used medicinally and as a diet supplement

I'd like to know which one is healthier/better for your body.

Extra Virgin Olive oil or Grape Seed Oil??

Thanks in advance!!!!Which oil is healthier Grape Seed oil or Extra Virgin Olive oil?
Both are good and Extra Virgin Olive oil has a higher fat content offset by the fact that it has Omega 6 and Omega 3.

and it has a great deal more flavour.

Grape Seed oil has a lower fat content but no Omega 6 or Omega 3. Little or no flavour to add to any foods being added to it. It has a higher smoking point that Olive Oil.

Grape seed oil or tea tree oil for The Bump on my piercing?

I have 'The Bump' on several of my piercings. I've been recommended both tea tree oil and grape seed oil. Which is better? Vitamin E. Tea Tree is an astringent, so it'll help kill any germs but straight up Vitamin E should be helpful. You can buy the gel capsules and take them like normal, and you can break them open and put the gel on the piercings too.

However, giving your baby flax seed oil, i believe, is a bad idea.

I use both on a regular basis. I like grape seed oil for cooking when you don't want the taste of olive oil to come through. It is very mild and doesn't have much flavor. So I like to use it to cook eggs and some vegetables. They are pretty interchangeable and delicious!

What are the benefits of grape seed oil for your skin?

Pure essential oils are beneficial in countless ways and much cheaper in the long run.than products, many of which are skin harming skin aging and health harming. They feed skin essential nutrients, will rid it of many blemishes and even the most problematical skin conditions and give you a healthy, glowing, revitalized skin. Grape seed, lavender, clove, rosewood, are excellent as they have been used by skin specialists to treat and cure acne and many more skin conditions. Do not clog or cause breakouts and they help neutralize oily skin. Thoroughly massage into skin on a daily basis and you will see immediate results. Skin will glow, look and feel smoother and healthier. If you make massage quit vigorous and use a forward and back motion using finger tips and front and sides of fingers(a circular one is not effective) focusing on wrinkle prone ares around mouth, etc you will see noticeable fading in as little as 3 days. Don't be afraid of vigorous massage. You first need to firm or tighten skin so that there is no pulling, stretching or stressing. To do that you have to tighten appropriate face muscles to a degree and in so doing it exercises, tones and conditions those muscles and thus helps counteract any sagging due to muscle weakening and aging. Massage is at same time firming, smoothing and tightening skin.

Research my B.A.'s to see feedback from users who have also had these results or contact me and I'll email info.

Does taking Flax seed oil or capules contribute to lowering your cholestrol?

I believe that it does...my level was 152 and now it is 132 in less than 1 year.

use the flax oil rather than the capsules...i buy it at whole foodsDoes taking Flax seed oil or capules contribute to lowering your cholestrol?
Yes flax seed oil can help lower your cholesterol level. The oil is enriched with the essential fatty acid called Omega 3, a nutrient that conveys LDL or the good cholesterol with the blood stream and clears artery walls from a build up of HDL or the bad cholesterol. But flax seed is packed with a host of other nutrients, apart from Omega 3, that is also good for the body. Want to know more? Visit the link below:

What is the difference between flax oil, flax seed oil, fish oil and the omega 3?

I've been taking the omega 3 from iceland health but it's really expensive ($60 dlls for 30 softgels) so I went to wal-mart but saw all of these names and just got confused. which is best? What is the difference between flax oil, flax seed oil, fish oil and the omega 3?
omega 3 fatty acid is the active ingredient you are looking for... both fish oil %26amp; flax seed oil contain Omega 3 (fatty acid)... BUT you will have to take about 10x the flax seed oil to get the benefit of fish oil (I wont go into the biochemistry of it but I have taken post-doctoral nutrition classes on the subject).

You do NOT need to spend $60 a bottle for the stuff.

You do need at least 1500 mg/day of Omega 3. You should be able to find that for about $30 a month somewhere....

WalMart may have it, Costco may have it, GNC may have it...

BUT make sure it has been purified has been tested not to contain any PCBs, dioxin, , mercury or heavy metal. It will say this on the label. If it does not, dont buy it... cheap stuff sometimes is the unpurified fish oil that contains a lot of toxin... you dont want to take that. What is the difference between flax oil, flax seed oil, fish oil and the omega 3?
Flax oil is pressed out of the seeds from Flax which is a plant .

Omega-3 is derived from fish which is an animal .

Omega-3 fish oil from salmon is best . Go to Wallgreens and get theirs . Sometimes they have deals when you buy one you get one free .I buy 250 softgels (1000 mg each); I think I paid like $12 .
Good answer from laughingfish. I just wanted to add that flax oil is made from the seed, just like flax seed oil.

The most effective way to take flax oil is in a liquid. It is in the refrigerated case. It goes rancid rather rapidly, so check the date. Barlean's brand is great because it has a high lignan content and is packaged in a light-proof container. You can just take it by the spoonful or put it in a smoothie or make salad dressing out of it. It has a pleasant, nutty flavor but with a slightly bitter aftertaste.

Typically, flax oil is more expensive than fish oil, because it is not as abundant. It is especially recommended for women with hormone issues.

If you decide to use fish oil, I recommend you purchase it from a natural foods store. You may pay a bit more but they're more likely to carry mercury-free fish oil, enteric coated. Fish oil is especially beneficial for relief of arthritis and as a source of vitamin A. Again, I recommend the liquid over the pill, because it is more absorbable. Buy it in emulsified mint or lemon flavor. Fish oil is not for people with liver disease.

Is sunflower seed oil the same as sunflower oil?

I went to the store to search for a bottle of sunflower seed oil since it is recommended as a treatment for eczema. I was only able to find a bottle of Mazola labeled sunflower oil (no seed listed). I think that it is probably what I need since I cannot think of any other place oil would come from on a sunflower. Am I right? Is this what I need or do I need to special order something from the internet? Is sunflower seed oil the same as sunflower oil?
sunflower oil is made for cooking and is usually derived from using solvents, heat, or a cold-press to extract the oil from the seeds mostly.

The cooking oil might still be helpful for your eczema but the intention behind the recommendation to get sunflower seed oil is for your to get an actual cold-pressed sunflower seed oil which carries more nutrients than a solvent or heat extracted version for cooking.

If you turn the label around and find the actual ingredient list (probably below the Nutrient Facts box) and there is any other ingredient listed besides sunflower seed oil, or tocopheryl (vitamin E), then do not use it.

Go to your local health food store or co-op and ask for a sunflower seed body oil from Aura Cacia brand or the like. They will also have other natural salves and oils for eczema. Is sunflower seed oil the same as sunflower oil?

Is Flax Seed oil a better source of Omega-3 fatty acid than Fish Oil?

Since you are asking on a vegetarian/vegan forum, I will tell you that flax seed oil is better.

Even if you were not asking on a vegetarian/vegan forum, I would tell you that flax oil is better.

Fish oil tastes rank. You have to eat a lot of capsules to get enough to really make a big difference.

Flax oil, if you keep it refrigerated and use it up within a month, has a nice nutty flavor, which will make you tend to want to use it and get your recommended 3 tablespoonsful a day (drizzle it on salads, blend it in smoothies, drizzle it on anything you are eating - just don't cook it - that deactivates the goodness)

It is better to use the flax oil in the bottle in the refrigerator section of your health food store because it is fresher, you can use it on your food rather than have to take a handful of capsules, and it tastes good.

With fish oil, you do not have much choice (if you use the oil from a bottle, it tastes rank (my mom says she used to try to run away from her mom chasing her with a spoonful of codliver oil) Besides all that, fish oil comes from fish that were killed. That is not very vegetarian.

A very good book which elaborates on flax seed oil is ';Fats That Kill, Fats That Heal'; by Udo Erasmus. Is Flax Seed oil a better source of Omega-3 fatty acid than Fish Oil?
If both are refrigerated, the flax seems to stay fresh longer. Is Flax Seed oil a better source of Omega-3 fatty acid than Fish Oil?
Flax is an excellent source of the essential omega acids. It also works super as an egg substitute in baking. I am allergic to eggs and use it daily. Fish oil is not appropriate for a vegetarian, and most often it comes from factory farmed fish, which are medicated and fed an unnatural diet of wheat, soy, corn, and fillers, and often has color added to their feed to make the meat more appealing. Thats lots of unnecessary toxins that pass into the oil. Flax will do the trick just fine-with no fishy breath!
Chia seeds have omega 3's too. Chia or flax don't have the cholesterol in fish oil. (Not the seeds in Chia pets...they are not food grade)

    rape seed oil?
Any veggie oil will do. I think canola oil is the same thing, but it smells fishy if you get it too hot. Use sunflower oil instead.
You may find Canola oil - that's a specific type of rape seed oil mainly produced in Canada or the USA. Or try sunflower oil, that's also low in poly-unsaturates like rape seed oil. Or a light olive oil although that tends to be expensive. Sesame seed oil tends to have a distinctive flavour which Rapeseed, Canola and Sunflower don't have. They are all vegetable oils and pretty much interchangeable. I'd recommend you don't use palm oil as its heavy and high in saturates - i.e. higher cholesterol
Another name for rape seed oil is vegetable oil. If you look at the ingredients for vegetable oil it will say it contains rape
this question is intresting . i ask what is canola oil and come to find out it was rapeseed. so go out and get some canola oil. i use corn or vegetable oil also

This may help. For years I bought ground flax seeds. I would put a couple of tablespoons into a small bowl of applesauce with a touch of cinnamon. I can't imagine why this wouldn't work with flax seed oil.

    Good luck,

    1/2 cup sesame seeds

    8 ounces dried soba noodles

    2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar

    1 tablespoon white sugar

    2 1/2 tablespoons soy sauce

    1 clove garlic, minced

    1 teaspoon dark sesame oil

    5 green onions, chopped

    3 cups broccoli florets

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).

Pour the sesame seeds onto a rimmed baking sheet. Toast the seeds in the oven for 10 to 12 minutes, until they are a rich brown around the edges.

Meanwhile, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the noodles and cook them for 5 to 6 minutes, or until they are just tender. Drain them, rinse them well with cold water, and drain them again.

In a large mixing bowl, mix together the vinegar, sugar, soy sauce, garlic, sesame oil and green onions. Add the noodles, and the toasted sesame seeds. Toss well, then stir in the broccoli. Let the dish sit for 30 minutes at room temperature before serving.

  • How to use carrot-seed essentil oil on the face?

I heard it can protect from the sun. So I want to use it every morning under some clear mineral powder. How much do I have to dilute it? I like to take a little shea butter and put one drop in, and put it on my face.

Is this a good idea? Should I mix another essential oil in there?

Thanks. How to use carrot-seed essentil oil on the face?
carrot-seed oil is not a sunscreen but because of the vitamin A it will help with the skin. You can use it by itself not necessarily dilute it. Yep, can mix with the shea butter.

Whats an equivalent to rape seed oil for cooking use?

we can't find rapeseed oil anywhere so we need to find something equivalent - HELPWhats an equivalent to rape seed oil for cooking use?
Rape seed oil sells as Canola oil because it sounds nicer. Who wants to eat something named rape.Whats an equivalent to rape seed oil for cooking use?
wok oil is more or less the same
Are you sure you don't mean grapeseed oil? Rapeseed oil is the same thing as canola oil. If you can't find canola oil, then you're looking for a mild-tasting oil with a relatively high smoke point. Good substitutes would be peanut, sunflower, or corn oil. But I can't imagine where you would be that you can't find canola oil.

If you mean grapeseed oil, it's primary advantage is a VERY high smoke point. Soybean and safflower oil are about equivalent. The cooking oil with the highest available smoke point is refined avacado oil.
Rape seed oil is just one type of many inexpensive, bland (ie. with no strong or distinct taste) cooking oils with good heating properties. It is interchangeable with eg. corn, groundnut and sunflower oils, as well as many generic vegetable oils.

Olive oil is different in that it is more expensive, has a distinct taste, and doesn't stand high heat very well.
try using grape seed oil.......peanut oil will work as well as sunflower...
How about Olive Oil. It is health and clean to use.
Groundnut oil is tasteless, and you only need to use about a teaspoonful.
    try ground nut oil.
sunflower oil just as good, but sesame oil is better
    Under 21 CFR 184.1555, low erucic acid rapeseed oil derived from Brassica napus or Brassica campestris is also known as canola oil. Because you consider low erucic acid oil derived from Brassica juncea to be substantially equivalent to low erucic acid rapeseed oil derived from Brassica napus or Brassica campestris, you intend to market low erucic acid oil derived from Brassica juncea as ';canola oil.';
As a couple of people have already said canola is an improved variety of rape seed . Canola comes from the words CANadian Oil Low Acid and it is extracted from the seed of the plant Brassica rapus hence the term rape seed. This plant is closely related to the turnip plant.
LOL! You could ';substitute'; canola oil.

(It's a different name for the same thing. Manufacturers decided people don't like the name ';rapeseed';, so they made up the word ';Canola'; to replace it!)

Now if you can't find canola oil, you could use sunflower oil...
I would try peanut oil or sesame oil.
    Indecent Assualt seed oil?
For a long time Canola oil was made of rape seed...read below!

Canola is an edible oil which originated in Canada. Today, canola is grown and consumed around the world as a superior edible oilseed. The yellow flower of the canola plant is now synonymous with the Canadian prairie landscape. Growing two- to six-feet tall, the yellow flowers in turn produce seed pods about two inches long, similar in shape to pea pods. The seed pods are about one-fifth the size of pea pods and contain twenty or more tiny round black or brownish-yellow seeds. Each seed contains at least 40 percent oil, which is extracted to produce Canola Harvest庐 margarines and oils.
