Why do people say ';Oil Seed Rape'; instead of ';Rape Seed Oil';?

I find it so irratatingWhy do people say ';Oil Seed Rape'; instead of ';Rape Seed Oil';?
Depends on if he is doing it, or about to do it..........lolWhy do people say ';Oil Seed Rape'; instead of ';Rape Seed Oil';?
I didn't know that they did! I say rape seed oil. If someone said 'oil seed rape' to me I would also be extremely irritated and also wonder what the hell was wrong with them!
as long as they make you understand
Sorry,,,,,,,but do they say it that way ????
Rape seed oil is the product from oil seed rape?
It may be the difference between the plant which is called 'oil seed rape' and the product.
If someone said ';Oil Seed Rape'; I would assume they were referring to the plants.

If they said ';Rape Seed Oil'; I would assume they were referring to the oil derived from the plants.

Both are correct, but they mean different things.

You can't plant a field of Rape Seed Oil, and you can't fry your food in Oil Seed Rape.
The plant is Rape. It is grown for the seeds, which are crushed to produce oil. Therefore, as a crop, it is correctly named Oil Seed Rape. However, as the end product is the oil produced from Rape seed, the oil is Rape Seed Oil. This is how it is, so live with it. Oh, by the way, the word is spelled ';irritating';.
'Oil Seed Rape' is the plant (also known as Rape, Oilseed Rape, Rapa, Rapaseed and Canola), and Rape Seed Oil is what they make from it when its harvested.
mmmm!
I've never heard it called anything but ';Rape Seed Oil';. Where are you located?
Didnt know they did!!!
